Lets continue to hear the nectarean message from Maharajji on verse 10.12 of Bhagavad Gita param brahma param dhaama / pavitram paramam bhavaan purusham shaasvatam divyam / aadi-devam ajam vibhum “You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest.” “param brahma – He is the Supreme Absolute Truth. param dhama – He is the Supreme refuge. He is the Supreme shelter. There is no shelter like Him. We take so many shelters and eventually all the shelters crumble down. Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Mathajis, Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva ! I was listening to our spiritual master, HDG Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj’s class on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.7.5 and shall make a humble effort to transcribe the same. After singing the initial invocation prayers Maharajji started to sing the below verse. “baahubhyaam ashvinoh pushno / hastaabhyaam krita-baahavah bhavantv adhvaryavash caanye / basta-shmashrur bhrigur bhavet Those who have had their arms cut off will have to work with the arms of Ashvini-kumaara, and those whose hands were cut off will have to do their work with the hands of Pushaa. The priests will also have to act in that manner. As for Bhrigu, he will have the beard from the goat’s head. Purport by Srila Prabhupada, please hear: Bhrigu Muni, a great supporter of Daksha, was awarded the beard of the goat’s head ... Read More »

Secret Way to Attain Krishna

In Bhagavad Gita verse 9.34, Lord Krishna says man-manaa bhaava mad-bhakto / mad-yaaji maam namaskuru  maam evaishyasi yuktvaivam / aatmaanam mat-paraayanaha “Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.“ Through this verse Lord Krishna has revealed the method of attaining Him, in a crystal clear manner. But many a times, we complicate the method because we are not able to control our mind and keep asking for mercy of Krishna over and over again. If we don’t follow the instructions of Krishna and His representatives then no one else can save us. It is because of Srila Prabhupada’s mercy that we are in touch with his books which is enabling us to remember and connect to the Vedic life which our ancestors followed. If not for His Divine Grace’s ... Read More »

How to Deal with People in Anxiety?

While going through the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam especially after Brahma prayers for creative energy in 3 Canto 9 Chapter, we see that Lord Krishna starts answering to the prayers in a wonderful manner and is teaching us how to deal with people who are in anxiety. After 25 prayers, Lord Brahma becomes tired and also expresses depression because the creation of this gigantic manifestation without any mistakes is undoubtedly a daunting and challenging task. Also his humility shines throughout his prayers which are full of his dependence on the Lord’s mercy and pleased by this the Lord answers wonderfully. 1. Respond with thoughtful words Lord responds with thoughtful words in verses 3.9.27-28 of Srimad Bhagavatam athaabhipretam anveekshya / brahmano madhusudanah  vishnanna cetasam tena / kalpa vyatikaraambhasaa  loka samsthaana vijnaana / aatmanah parikhidyatah  tam aahaagaadhayaa vaacaa / kashmalam shamayann iva “The Lord saw that Brahma was very anxious about the ... Accepting the Destiny – 4

This is the concluding portion of the previous offerings transcribing the lecture delivered by our beloved God brother HG Devakinandan prabhuji in Chennai on 27th May 2011 on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 7.2.40. 7. Seeing the hand of Krishna in everything: The conclusion to the verse SB 7.2.40 is very beautiful that until and unless we see the hand of Krishna in everything, we will not accept the destiny of the Lord as ours. When reverses come and difficulties come, we should not be disturbed. Maharaj said, for a while we may be disturbed but that while depends on our sadhana and faith. If your faith and sadhana is very nice and sadhu sanga is there, the lead time between the initial point of your being upset and the immediate getting out of the bewilderment will become shorter and shorter and shorter until it takes just little less than two minutes to ... Accepting the Destiny – 3

In the last offerings we saw that Prabhuji explained that 1. Nothing is in our hands and everything is in the Lord’s hands. So destiny is really not under our control. 2. But we plan so many things. So how to know Krishna’s plans? Prabhuji explained that this begins with accepting that we do not know His plans. 3. The next question is how to accept Krishna’s plans and it begins with the conviction that we do not want what Krishna does not want for us. 4. Having accepted His plans how to execute the plans? Here Prabhuji explained that it has to be done with faith and without envy. The result of implicitly following the vision of the Lord is liberation from destiny and in the last mail, the pastime of killing Jayadratha was offered. Here we continue with the pastime of Duryodhana and Gandhari. 5. Liberation from destiny: When ... Read More »

Check Your Desires

In Srimad Bhagvatam 1.2.6 Sri Suta Goswami answers the first question of the sages of Naimisharanya. The sages had asked him to summarize the whole range of revealed scriptures and present the most essential part so that fallen people or the people in general might easily take it up. sa vai pumsaam paro dharmo / yato bhaktir adhokshaje ahaituky apratihataa / yayaatma supraseedati “The supreme occupation [dharma] for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to completely satisfy the self.“ This is a very important verse as it teaches us, how the devotional service should be carried out and with what mood and attitude. Yes, Just superficially carrying out devotional service without having “bhaav” in it or loving feelings in it is as futile as preparing a meal without salt. Will a ... Read More »

Live a Clean Life

In Bhagavad Gita verse 7.28 Lord Krishna says yeshaam tvanta gatam paapam / janaanaam punya karmanaam te dvandva moha nirmuktaa / bhajante maam drda vrataah “Persons who have acted piously in previous lives and in this life and whose sinful actions are completely eradicated are freed from the dualities of delusion, and they engage themselves in My service with determination.“ Srila Prabhupada in his purport explains, that our life should be crystal clear, free of all the sinful activities, then only we will be able to worship Krishna with firm determination as explained in the above verse. Srila Prabhupada insists that for one who has followed the regulative principles throughout his life and performed devotional service, only that person is eligible to rise to the pure knowledge of Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is possible in Krishna Consciousness in association of devotees. Our beloved Gurudev HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj says, ... Read More »
