How to Deal with People in Anxiety?

While going through the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam especially after Brahma prayers for creative energy in 3 Canto 9 Chapter, we see that Lord Krishna starts answering to the prayers in a wonderful manner and is teaching us how to deal with people who are in anxiety. After 25 prayers, Lord Brahma becomes tired and also expresses depression because the creation of this gigantic manifestation without any mistakes is undoubtedly a daunting and challenging task. Also his humility shines throughout his prayers which are full of his dependence on the Lord’s mercy and pleased by this the Lord answers wonderfully. 1. Respond with thoughtful words Lord responds with thoughtful words in verses 3.9.27-28 of Srimad Bhagavatam athaabhipretam anveekshya / brahmano madhusudanah  vishnanna cetasam tena / kalpa vyatikaraambhasaa  loka samsthaana vijnaana / aatmanah parikhidyatah  tam aahaagaadhayaa vaacaa / kashmalam shamayann iva “The Lord saw that Brahma was very anxious about the ... Transcend the Whirlpool of Material Modes – 3

Everything related to Krishna is forced to be spiritual. As soon as something is connected to Krishna, it can never remain material. It doesn’t matter in which varna or ashram we are in. Everyone has to do their duty, without running away from it. Since everything comes from Him, duty also comes from Him and so understanding this when we do it immaculately well, Krishna is very pleased. As soon as we touch material life, we experience the waves of modes and are consumed by the whirlpool of material modes. Complete suspension of these material modes is required. Maharaj was giving us the example of how Duryodhana went to forest with big army, with an intention to show-off his opulence to the Pandavas and make them feel depressed. Now let us continue to hear from Maharaj. “Duryodhan is the best example. Again and again he was advised to suspend the ... Read More »

Below is a humble effort to transcribe one of the nectarean thought provoking classes given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Bhagavad Gita verse 15.5 in Sri Sri Radha Neel Madhav Dham, Rajkot on 23rd December 2006. nirmaana-mohaa jita-sanga-doshaa adhyaatma-nityaa vinivrtta-kaamaah dvandvair vimuktaah sukha-duhkha-samjnair gacchanty amudhaah padam avyayam tat “Those who are free from false prestige, illusion and false association, who understand the eternal, who are done with material lust, who are freed from the dualities of happiness and distress, and who, unbewildered, know how to surrender unto the Supreme Person attain to that eternal kingdom.” dvandvair means dualities. In our life there are always dilemmas – whether to do this or do that. One or the other way, these dilemmas always puts us into troubles. So what to do? What should we do? We should never dwell in duality. If you are in duality, ... Read More »

Secret of Happiness

Prajapati Daksha, with an intention of insulting Lord Siva, fails to invite him to a sacrifice for which all the other demigods are invited. Due to maternal affection, Mother Sati goes to the sacrificial arena and when Daksha fails to welcome her properly, being insulted by his offensive attitude to Lord Siva, she quits her body. Lord Siva, on hearing this sends his men who behead Daksha and pollute the sacrificial arena. When the demigods approach Lord Brahma for help, Brahmaji advises them as follows (Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.6.4) tad aakarnya vibhuh praaha / tejiyasi krtaagasi kshemaaya tatra saa bhuyaan / na praayena bubhusataam When Lord Brahma heard everything from the demigods and the members who had attended the sacrifice, he replied: You cannot be happy in executing a sacrifice if you blaspheme a great personality and thereby offend his lotus feet. You cannot have happiness in that way. Brahmaji is conveying a very ... Read More »

Causes for Losing Our Piety

It is very important that we have to take the instructions of our spiritual master very seriously and not take it lightly even if it is told in lighter vein. If we do take it lightly then we are going to be the biggest loser of our own spiritual life. Our Gurudev always lovingly and jokingly instructs us, but the matter conveyed is very serious and if we don’t realize it then it is going to be our biggest misfortune. This can be corroborated from the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam, when Lord Krishna instructed the Kauravas to part atleast 5 villages to the Pandavas but Dhrtarashtra (who was firmly attached to the kingdom) did not give up because he wanted to pamper the impious desires of his sons. Srimad Bhagavatam says that the Kauravas were bereft of last farthing of previous pious acts. Maharaj has been insisting to us so ... Read More »

Obedience Saves Us from Suffering and Injustice – 1

We would like to share a very powerful lecture delivered by our Guru Maharaj H H Mahavishnu Goswami on the 20th Jan 2009 in Rajkot. Maharaj gave an astounding practical explanation on the verse SB 1.9.12: aho kashtam aho ‘nyaayyam / yad yuyam dharma-nandanaah jivitum naarhatha klishtam / vipra-dharmaacyutaashrayaah Bhishmadeva said: “Oh, what terrible sufferings and what terrible injustices you good souls suffer for being the sons of religion personified. You did not deserve to remain alive under those tribulations, yet you were protected by the brahmanas, God and religion.” 1. The thing is we should try to think about our conditions. No doubt the Pandavas were put into so many turbulence by the Kauravas. These living entities how pure they should be? They were able to talk to Krishna directly. We cannot even see Him anywhere. We have to be satisfied with water, fire etc. He says, “I am the taste ... Read More »
