Secret Way to Attain KrishnaOct 9th, 2011 | By Gaur Gadadhar Das | Category: Devotional Service
In Bhagavad Gita verse 9.34, Lord Krishna says
man-manaa bhaava mad-bhakto / mad-yaaji maam namaskuru
maam evaishyasi yuktvaivam / aatmaanam mat-paraayanaha
“Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.“
Through this verse Lord Krishna has revealed the method of attaining Him, in a crystal clear manner. But many a times, we complicate the method because we are not able to control our mind and keep asking for mercy of Krishna over and over again. If we don’t follow the instructions of Krishna and His representatives then no one else can save us. It is because of Srila Prabhupada’s mercy that we are in touch with his books which is enabling us to remember and connect to the Vedic life which our ancestors followed. If not for His Divine Grace’s mercy, we would be completely lost in sense gratificatory activities. Even after taking up process of bhakti, we should ensure that we simply don’t pose ourselves as devotees. Whether we are in association of devotees or not, in whatever circumstances the Lord places us, we should genuinely and sincerely follow the instructions of spiritual master and Krishna. Scriptures say that there ar 8 million 400 thousand varieties of species. How fotunate are we to have this human birth now? How much more fortunate are we to be in touch with Srila Prabhupada’s books and by his grace able to hear the instructions of Lord Krishna? So we should not commit the mistake of losing this rare, precious opportunity Lord has given us.
Lord knows that its our obstinate mind which is troubling us. So He says in Gita that mind if controlled can be our best friend and if uncontrolled, it can be our worst enemy. Krishna’s instruction of thinking about Him continuously is easy to follow, if we make mind our best friend by controlling it. Krishna’s instruction is difficult to follow if we let our mind control us and then it becomes our worst enemy. No Doubt, mind will go here and there. We will find it difficult to concentrate on Krishna but again Krishna gives solution to this problem as well. Krishna has given all the answers to the questions one can possibly have in Bhagavad-Gita. In Bhagavad Gita verse 6.26 Krishna says
yato yato nishcalati / manas cancalam asthiram
tatas tato niyamyaitad / aatmany eva vasham nayet
“From wherever the mind wanders due to its flickering and unsteady nature, one must certainly withdraw it and bring it back under the control of the self.“
In one of his nectarean classes our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj further unfolds the secret way to attain Krishna. Please find below partial transcription of the class given by Maharaj.
“Krishna tells everything in Bhagavad-Gita and leaves us to realize it through practice. If we practise, then we will be happy else we will suffer. There is no other way. Our mind has got to be convinced that there is no other way. We have to follow what Krishna has told. Otherwise suffer. Whole world is suffering. Whole world is defeated. We are born in ignorance thats why we are defeated all the time. The full form of world is
W - Walk
O - Or
R - Run
L - Loose
D - Definitely
So in this material world no matter how much advancement you do in the name of growth, losing is definite. There are all losers today. The more materially advanced you are, the loser you are, because you have wasted much of your time in material advancement rather than in concentrating over Krishna. There are three ways to satisfy Krishna as mentioned in Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.31.19:
dayayaa sarva bhuteshu / santushtyaa yena kenavaa
sarvendriyopashaantyaa ca / tushyaty aashu janaardanah
By showing mercy to all living entities, being satisfied somehow or other and controlling the senses from sense enjoyment, one can very quickly satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Janardana.
- Be merciful to all living entities
- In any situation you must be satisfied
- All senses must be completely under control
It is easy to understand. And if you are not able to remember than there is one more short cut. Always remember MSC.
M for Mercy
S for Satisfaction
C for Control
If we remember MSC even then also we will be able to satisfy Krishna. Satisfying Krishna is very important, because we say that we are devoted to Krishna. But actually Krishna is devoted to us. We keep asking Krishna for so many favors. Like please confirm my tickets to so and so place. Please give me visa for America etc. So Krishna fulfills your desire, that’s why He is devoted to you. But you are not ready to fulfill Krishna’s desire. You are not ready to satisfy Krishna. Hence you are not devotee. A Pure devotee always thinks about Krishna and acts for his pleasure. He knows what can make him happy. In this case, Remembering Krishna continuously can make Krishna happy, so one must remember Him throughout. Krishna’s satisfaction should be our supreme goal. This is siddhi. Perfection. Hari toshanam – to satisfy Hari is our goal of existence. Whole Srimad Bhagavatam is surrounding around MSC – Mercy, Satisfaction and Control.
These actions don’t have any reaction. As soon as you control your senses, your speech is controlled. Mind is purified. So no bad words will come out of your mouth. Everything is going on according to the will of Krishna. So why to meddle into His activity ? So speak minimum necessary. Our tongue should only be open for Krishna. That is safest way to behave in this world. No body can blame you for talking only about Krishna. If you are not interested in worldly returns then you will not exploit anyone.”
Gurudev’s transcendental instructions will help us in pleasing Krishna. As it is rightly said that Bhakti is complex for complex person and simple for simple person. Let us try to be as simple as possible and follow devotional service under the guidance of our spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada and Lord Sri Krishna.
Thank you very much.
